handgun. Here is the .30 Herrett Bob Milek picture.
I just about wore out the first issue, and have read them both a dozen times. Even lent them to an American friend in France, who dutifully returned them. I was so taken by the Herrett cartridges that I put together a rig exactly like Bob's in the fist edition: 10-inch Contender in .30 Herrett, with Leupold EER 2X scope, in the TC leather bandoleer holster and handloaded with the 125-grain Sierra. That rig would shoot, but I never managed to find a mulie buck while hunting with it. Looking back, I have to admit that Milek was dead wrong about proper cast bullet loads for bear -- and in claiming the .45 Colt case was a weak sister. But then Elmer Keith never had any use for the .30-06. We all have our blind spots!
