Handgun Hunting Discussion

My 17 year old son Gus has been dead set on taking something with his Ruger Redhawk in .44 Mag. With football and his job it's rare for him to have a morning off, but he let me know Thursday that he had this morning available. We set the alarm for 3am and hit the road for the 90 minute drive to the lease. Decided to get in the stand early to give things time to settle down before first light. Gus has to make a hike straight up 800' to get to his mountain top tree stand and he text me that he was in place and ready to go. About daybreak he text that two hogs came out but didn't stay long and then a few minutes later I heard the sound of his .44 bark from the mountain top. 10 minutes later he's calling and said he had a good one down! Proud of my boy.... He's spent a lot of time practicing with this wheel gun and it all paid off this morning. Memories forever and one proud dad!
