Just got home from HHC/Vacation
My wife and I just got back from our summer vacation which included HHC 2024.
HHC was very, very challenging and also a lot of fun. I got to meet a lot of very friendly people at this shoot.
I wanted to let all of you HHI members know that I used the September 2022 monthly giveaway, a Taurus Raging Hunter 44 magnum in the revolver open sights class and finished in 4th place. I was actually tied for 3rd but a pig target was the tie breaker target and I got 4th. I was totally shocked and absolutely tickled to death when I heard my name for 4th place at the awards banquet.
I just wanted to let y’all know this revolver is getting used. The first year I had it I got a 6 point whitetail, the next year, which was last season, I got a Black Bear with it and now I have gotten a 4th place finish with it at HHC 2024. I really like this revolver and wanted to let everyone know that it’s getting a lot of use.
I finished in the top 10 in both revolver optics and single shot classes and was very happy with that. I didn’t do as well in the rimfire class but I still had a lot of fun and got to meet a lot of great people who also like handguns.
The day after the shoot a group of us got together and went prairie dog hunting. I think this is the most fun you can legally have while shooting! We probably shot for about 3 hours, my longest confirmed kill was 490 yards and I was tickled to death!
The absolute highlight of my whole HHC 2024 experience was meeting Mark Hampton. I am still in shock about his passing. He was a super nice person and talked with me like we were old friends, I still can’t believe he’s gone.
Mark Hampton won the single shot class and next year HHC is having the shoot in his Memory.
This is my favorite part of the trip and something I will cherish forever.
Hi Jay, I don’t know about the clinic but I really appreciate it. It was a lot of fun getting to shoot with you and our group. I would love to be able to go again next year if at all possible.
