Any .50 Spl Hunting Loads?
I have been planning to put a .50 Bowen Spl build together for awhile, and finally got through a series of road blocks and dead ends on getting a build gun and parts together, and was able to get them off to Bowen this morning. I've felt like cutting some case capacity off the .500 Linebaugh wouldn't be a bad thing for a long time, and have had request for loaded ammo for the Spl, so it's gotten me curious. There's not a lot out there for load data, but have been looking at what there is, and talking to a couple folks I know who have their own they've built, and it's obvious to me that this lil cartridge is not just a target round, regardless of what some might feel prudent. I'm going to try some different bullets and powders regardless, but just curious if anyone on here actually hunts with a .50 Spl, and if they have any pet loads for it. I think a lower velocity .50 running a little less powder to get the work done can't help but be a good thing with a proper bullet.
I already had the G&A March 1990 magazine with the article and loads from Ross, and I bought the September 1991 Shooting Times with one of my favorite Bowen .475 Nimrods on the cover, but that magazine has no reference to the .50 Spl in it. The other two you mention both have .500 Linebaugh articles in them, and don't see anything about .50 Spl on the covers, but don't have them in hand...
