I'm rounding up the gear to start casting bullets. My question is, to the folks that are casting expanding hollow points. What alloy are y'all using? I'm going to be casting for a 45 Colt Ruger.

Using gas checks and powder coat absolutely change the hardness of lead you need to use. I’ve used 10 pounds of plumbers lead with a couple sticks of Linotype, fluxed with red fir sawdust, airdropped. Then water dropped after powder coating, sized and gas checked, and they do great on large or small animals .
