Single 5 ???

Had another gun I saved from long ago to transform into a bigger better handgun. This one is a Ruger single six new model and I want to convert it to a 5 shot wildcat. While working with Jack Huntington he always has something that catches my wondering eyes. He just finished up a Single six that he converted to 5 shot 10mm. This one had a blackhawk grip frame and a 5 inch barrel. The owner says he really loves the gun.

I have a old single six that was converted to center fire, using the stock cylinder and barrel. It is in a 22 Long Snapper, which is a shorten 22 hornet round. The hottest load I used was 5.7 grains of Unique 35 grain bullet for around 2000 fps. This still a 6 shot. Jack says he can do this Snapper, starting for around 700$.

Jack has his protege working on a 5 shot 25-20. He made a cylinder, uses a blackhawk grip frame, opened the frame, top, bottom and forward, removed the old firing pin, plugged the hole redrilled and placed the firing pin in line.

I think I will build a 375 based on a 10mm case. I have the cylinder, barrel and a steel blackhawk grip frame. Now I need a custom reamer, and many hours of work. It will be awhile till this is done.

Jack says he can make a 41 special in a old 3 screw single six, there is more room due to the hand location is different. I want to see one so give Jack a call and have yours converted.

Its not the hand that is different its the lack of a transfer bar slot which allows for a bigger cutout for the rim of the shell in the loading gate area. The transfer bar cut out is right under the loading gate. The old 3 scew single six does not have a transfer bar so it does not have the slot. If you want to carry a full loaded cylinder you need to have the hammer on a empty chamber in these older guns. Ruger still offers a free transfer bar conversion which does not include a slot. A 10mm shell or comparable rim diameter is the largest you can go on a new model . Jack says he can get a 41 special to fit in the old 3 screw single six.
