44 Special Blackhawk Bisley Build w/ RWGrip
I am about to embark on a Ronnie Wells Bisley brass grip frame install on a 44 Special Ruger Blackhawk (new model). What Wolffe spring combination do you recommend? Does the Bisley frame require "special length" springs or does the frame take care of that internally? I would also appreciate any tips or techniques you guys have learned for fit. Also it appears the grips can be hit or miss so any recommendation on Grip blocks source I can hand fit?

As a follow up, I finally got all the kinks worked out. Two issues I had were the small spring loaded plunger on the hammer that releases the cylinder latch was hanging up, I thought it was the pawl but luckily I stopped filing on the pawl before I went too far. The light strikes appeared to be hammer drag, I lightly sanded the leading edges and I have had no issues since. I may look into hammer shims if needed, they sure helped my RH. I learned so much that I may do another…..maybe convert a BH 41 Mag to a “Bearskinner” bisley since I can’t find a lipsey version, All in all I recommend this project.
