Does the throat need reaming?

Following the discussion with Ryan about modifying a Colt SAA clone,s sights for hunting, I ordered in a NM Blackhawk in .45 Colt, with 7 1/2-inch barrel. I shoot a dozen or more cast handgun bullets for every jacketed bullet, so one of the first things I checked on the new sixgun was the cylinder throats. No surprise that a .452 bullet stops well short of the mouth in each chamber -- and they are not only undersize but inconsistent, so I will ream them all to .452. While I am at it, I wonder if the barrel throat could use a "shave" as well. I've never had a sixgun with the 11-degree throat, but everything I have read suggests it never hurts and usually helps -- sometimes a great deal. I'll measure both ends of the barrel and will slug it as well, hoping to feel any tightness at the throat end.

I agree with Ryan on throat diameter, however if it shoots don’t worry about it. Just get your throats consistent,go shoot it, see what it does first. Then decide on a course of action. I had a tight throat and reamed them all .4525 and left everything else alone because the gun shot well, even with a little bit of frame choke on the barrel.
