The newest 45 Super is running

Just got the barrel back from Mag-Na-Port for the new 45 Super. Perfect work as usual. It's pouring rain so won't get to shoot it until later.

I haven't decided what I am going to do with the trigger yet. The sights(Tag Precision) are awesome. I am starting with a 22# spring as I sort out this barrel experiment. Those Buffalo Bore 255 grains are serious. I shot the same load into the ballistic buffalo when I did the Sixgunner article on the 45 Super. It went head to head with 44 Magnum loads and made a good showing. Now I just need the rain to quit.

From after shooting it:

I guessed on the recoil spring with the ports vs. the comp. Bingo. Runs like a Swiss watch and throws the brass in a nice neat pile. Then shot one of the Buffalo Bore Outdoorsman 255 grain Supers into the ballistic buffalo. 2.5' penetration in that would have gone end to end through an elk. This gun is going to be great. Just for fun I shot one of the 185 Noslers at 1300fps in the ballistic buffalo. 2" wound channel. On deer that load has been awesome. I love it when a plan comes together.

Welcome to the fun club! That 185 Underwood load will absolutely splatter deer lungs. I have shot several through the lungs with the 185s. Its not just a hole. It looks like a bomb went off. I wont try to break a shoulder with them. To fragile at that velocity. I ran some of the 255 grain cast Underwood and some of the 255 Buffalo Bore through the newest one a few days ago. Penetration was on par with some hot 44 Magnum Cast loads. I used the 230 XTP from the long slide super on a few deer. Only recovered one. Identical damage that I see from my 41 and 44 Magnum JHP loads on deer. Just a fun cartridge that works great on deer sized game.
