So yes Virginia, matches do help hunting!
After getting back into competitive shooting I can tell it is making a big difference in my target acquisition time. In addition the more I shoot in the match type scenarios the more I focus on the actual target with speed. In other words I consider the (X) to be the perfect aiming point for a clean kill. Although most of my shots are from rests whether intentional or improvised the occasion still exists in my type of hunting where a quick offhand shot is needed. There is no question that burning ammo while on a timer is helping with this. Just musings while taking a break.

Friday night we had shoot two of the 2nd yearly match. I took advantage of the sight rule change in Stock class. I installed TAG Precision sights on my old pet G22 for the last match and I could immediately tell the difference. Same thing this time out. Having sight you can see in any light is invaluable. I was pretty happy with my shooting Friday. Out in daylight I can put 50 shots in the X at 25 yards but not in the indoor range. I am getting a set of TAG sights for it to. I run Dawson's on that gun which are great in daylight but I can see the advantage of the TAGs in the indoor light. My G24 is getting jealous but since even the Glock instructors never even saw a Gen 2 G24 (super rare and I have been offered a lot for it) I am not changing a thing on it. Besides I can shoot it fine outside.
