Minnie Sota deer hunt
This Texan took a little trip to the great white north, land of tukes and toboggans. A visit to see the guys from Antelope camp in their normal surroundings. The trip was in conjunction with a visit to Montana for a small family reunion. I was able to fit in the 3 days for a deer hunt during the final weekend of the normal Minnesota deer season. They are allowed to use slugs from shotguns or handguns to hunt with, so handgun was my choice.
Temps in the high 20’s to low teens was what I had to look forward to, luckily I’ve got good cold weather clothing. At no tIme did I get so chilled as to make it miserable. Old school Jon-E handwarmers were put to use though, when the wind was blowing 10-20mph. I had two chances at bucks, the first a nice buck that simply wouldn’t stop from chasing the doe he was after. The second was just a tad over 100 yards at the closest, a makeable shot but one I chose not to attempt due to its proximity to the edge of the property. In the end I was rewarded with a 70ish yard shot at a large doe and made a clean hit she bolted 40 yards and fell into a culvert and was dead by the time I walked up to it. One of the pics shows where she stood when hit.

What bullet are you shooting? I've yet to make a decision on what bullet I'll shoot from my .44 SBHH.
