New Freedom Arms M97

First gun I’ve ever ordered new and to my specs.

I already own another 97 in 41 magnum and absolutely love it, so adding a second one to the safe was a natural progression. I have small hands for a dude and these smaller frame revolvers fit me perfect. I love the light weight of them and overall size. Some have mentioned these as knuckle busters for them - not the case for me.

Freedom Arms model 97 in 45 Colt…7.5” barrel, action/trigger job, micarta grips, front site delete, and added a Trijicon rmr mount.

Picked it up Monday on my way to my lease. Tuesday morning I couldn’t wait for daybreak to try several loads I had worked up. Ultimately the 265 WFNGC shot the most accurate but to start hunting I used a 250 XTP over H110. Managed to break the revolver in properly on a nice Texas Hill Country doe with the XTP. Think I’m going to hunt with the 265 cast next and see how it performs on one of our hogs and/or possibly a deer.

I’ve also loaded up more of the 250 XTPs but this time over 2400 on the suggestion of Kim Ralston. And by the way, this gun purchase is pretty much his fault. Which reminds me…Kim if you see this, my wife would like to speak with you…haha.

Congrats again...on a fine looking FA97! You didn't waste any time breaking it in either. I recently acquired a used FA97 in 45 Colt with a 7 1/2 inch barrel and look forward to your continued posting of the loads you're using and their performance in the field. I have used the 250 grain XTP at speeds up to about 1500 fps and they have performed well with normal broadside or shoulder shots.
