450 Encore buck on Thanksgiving and Matt's 260 Encore doe.
Thursday morning I went out on my annual Thanksgiving morning hunt. I have been doing it since I was 14 years old. I carried my 450 Encore with the general purpose load like several of us shot in Texas. With the muzzle brake that load is nice to shoot and is shooting 1" groups at 100 yards. 300 grain Hornady at 2030 fps. Plenty for most things. The buck came in with another buck right at 8:30. I was a while before I had a clear shot. He was 88 yards out. I settled on the aorta and squeezed the trigger. No tracking required. Just a nice 220 lbs 5 1/2 year old. I am happy as a lark. Matt scored a doe Friday with his 260 Encore. We had a great Thanksgiving.
