Stupid pigs,…….
I was sitting in my Toyota ranch truck, up on the shooting platform, sighting in and chronoing loads for several guns. My new to me Stroh 44spec., my 357max ReyGun, my Super BH Hunter, my SRH 454, and at the end a XP in 243 with a fast twist barrel 1in8. I just get some loads chrono’d that produce 2800-2900fps with 85gr. and 80gr. Mono metal bullets. When a small sounder of pigs decides to enter the field where I’m shooting. So many choices of guns and so many targets, I decide the safest thing is to simply shoot from where I am with what I have in hand. I only know the XP is 1” high at 50 with the load I just shot, a 85gr. Fusion mono bullet at 2800fps. The pigs are rooting and oblivious to me, only 90-100 yards away. I grab my IPad enter ballistic data, see that I should be 2 ish inches high at 100 and aim accordingly. Since the light was failing quickly with the cloud cover. What I thought was a pig quartering towards me, turned out to be one quartering away, the little mono bullet didn’t care. It hit the pig just in front of the hind leg and exited the opposite front leg, the little piggy ran about 50 yards an expired. I had forgotten to hold low for the high impact at 100 and only managed to hit the tops of the lungs, but it was successful

Targets of opportunity. The funest kind!
