Handgun Hunting Discussion

Over the past year, I’ve really grown to enjoy shooting suppressed handguns. One ongoing frustration, though, has been finding ear protection fast enough when shooting revolvers. With most suppressed handguns I’ve tried, the balance ends up very front-heavy, which makes off-hand shooting difficult.

That changed when I got my hands on a Lone Eagle. Its naturally rear-heavy balance made it seem like an ideal candidate for suppression, so I decided to build one out. I settled on .44, my favorite caliber, and liked the idea of using a pistol cartridge that could be hunted with at subsonic speeds if desired. With the long barrel and no cylinder gap, it also (dare I say) offers close performance approaching traditional 454 revolver velocities.

So far, this setup has exceeded my expectations. The Lone Eagle has proven to be the best suppressor match I’ve found for off-hand handgun shooting. I’m excited about how it’s turned out and wanted to share
