BP revolver capability
I know I won’t have any problem killing deer and pigs with my Clements .50 caliber Ruger Old Army but what about using it on Elk? It will fire a 250 gr conical at about 1200 FPS. I will have to check legality of course but would it be capable of cleanly taking Elk size critters inside 50 yards?

I’d want a bit more bullet, but I know Mr. Rhodes has taken elk with bullets of that approx. weight and others have used 357’s on them. It would depend on the bullets construction and terminal performance, I much prefer an exit on everything. Out to 50 yards I’d say a 300gr at 1000fps would do ok, again depending on its construction and your shot placement. Go shoot a few 200# or larger pigs and you should get a good feel for what the bullet will do.
