Advice for Argentina

I Just booked a hunt for March 2025. Red stag and Black buck. I shoot a Cotender in 7-30 waters when deer hunting but I also have a SSK barrel in .375 JDJ. Thoughts on which barrel to use? I really don't want to take both although it is an option. Suggested loads would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I agree with Rey & others on the .375 JDJ. The Horn. 270 gr. is not my favorite .375 bullet, but in the JDJ it is the best. Newer, especially bonded bullets were never recommended by JD for the Contender. Stay away from Swifts. I ruined an Encore with them. They're #1 on JD's bad bullet list for his handguns.

That being said, I did test the Lehigh .375 250 gr. Chaos for JD & Lehigh in my .375 JDJ. It worked great on deer-accurate, awesome damage. Took deer out to 180 with no problems, probably good to 250. Loaded it a little lighter than the 270 Horn.

Since your trip is a while you'd have time to go "bigger", like .375-06 JDJ in Encore or (better) .375/.284 in Encore or XP. In these two you can go with newer, better bullets that work at really longer ranges.

Oh.. One final option, I loaded for a friend's .375 JDJ in an Encore. I loaded it hotter than for a Contender. Shot great, performed great & it can use the newer bullets.
