With moose off the menu this fall I may have a little extra time.
What can you tell me about hunting Columbia blacktails? OTC tags, best states, strategies, calibers/loads, etc?

I took a 120" Colombia blackie west of Roseburg, OR. The land switched hands, but my old guide still has adds in the monthly SCI paper (blank on name right now) for other places. Excellent guide. I saw a lot of deer, but held out for a biggie to my guide's displeasure!!
I also did a Coues in deep southern AZ. Excellent guide there. Average 8 pt.
On both of these deer I used my #1 go-to gun- 6.5/.284 XP & 130 gr. AB. Both shots about 265.
