The specialty pistols…….
For the last year or so I’ve been looking for a nice specialty pistol to use strictly for varmints. I’ve narrowed my choices down to nothing larger than 25 caliber, and prefer velocity to be in the 2600-3000fps range. So 223,22-250,6mm/223, 6br,
25 sharps, maybe even 250sav, smaller cases and pretty much no offbeat wildcats. This has led me to look for different specialty handguns, back in the 80’s and early 90’s we had lots of choices Wichita, XP, Weatherby, MOA, HS precision, etc. now many of those options are long gone. We have the long lasting Contenders, Encores, XP, and some newer break open guns but very few bolt guns.
I’ve owned Contenders, Pachmayr Dominators, and an XP, still have the XP. It would be nice to hear from you guys about what other specialty pistols you’ve owned and how well you liked or didn’t like them. Also some pics,………

This XP has proven to be more than I’d hoped for, I originally had planned on sending it to BCG and make it a 6.5/284 but I liked the repeater feature and the accuracy was terrific so decided to keep it a 7-08. A 150gr. at 2600fps is all I need and it is prairie dog accurate out to 300, it’s just bigger than I want for varmints.

I like it. For something like coyotes I’d like to have a little overkill .
