M.R.I. Lone Eagle.....
They called him Frogg. He was a retired educator and clerked a gunshop and managed a shooting range to pass the time and fund his health insurance until he attained medicare age. We kind of clicked as they say with our fondnesses for single shot specialty pistols......commonly and irreverently referred to as "pocket rifles"
Clerking a gunshop gave him dibs on the rare and unique. The store owner had little use in taking in things like remington xp-100s so Frogg would negotiate on his own and acquired several prime examples, both factory and custom. I personally was in my decade and a half t/c contender phase and could not afford such luxuries, what with raising the kids and all.
Then the newsstand gun glossies announced that MRI was discontinuing and clearancing-out their Lone Eagle line. It was a factory direct purchase and the lower/trigger mechanism had to be ordered separately from the barrel/frame which rather confused Frogg but in fullness of time came a .358 win. model.
To be continued.....
Good story, just finding this as I made a handshake (well, text) deal yesterday on a Competitor in .223 Remington. Not my favorite round but the price was right and you never know what may come. Regardless, it'll e in hand sometime in early December.
