Bullet choices for coming nov. whitetail season out of 10" contender 4x scope ?
I have generic 158 jsp (zero) & 158 gr. and 180 gr. xtps, and 180 wfngc. and can order custom types (fury etc.).....even considering barnes 125 or 140 gr. X bullets.
I doubt I will go anywhere near maximum loads.
Your thoughts/advice ?

I had a Ruger 7.5” in 357 Maximum several years ago and took two whitetail does with it using the Hornady 180 XTP. The bullets worked great on both deer, complete penetration and short runs from both. My load clocked 1400 fps out of the Ruger, I’m sure your Contender will give quite a bit more speed but I’d still feel confident in the 180 XTP.
