Barnes 225 XPB in 45 colt +p
Was in far SE Iowa for some deer hunting. Snow pushed the deer into the woods so drives and shooting at moving deer became the norm. The encore in 45-70 wasn't well suited for job so the backup Henry in 45 colt came out to play. I was pushing handloaded 225 XPB bullets at 1730 out of the side load all weather. I got the chance to connect on a buck at about 130 yards or about 1200fps impact velocit on a quartering to shot. (Edited after checking distance again) Broke a rib, took out a lung, back through the guts and stopped under the offside hide on the side of of the abdomen. Bullet expanded nicely (not quite symmetrical) and was full of hair and tissue when I dug it out. There was probably 18ish inches of penetration. Moving pretty fast compared to typical handgun velocities, but I don't think I need to worry about the bullet coming apart at high velocities. Edit. Barnes said 900fps is the minimal terminal impact velocity for this bullet to function as intended.

Congrats Karl!
