Economic loads

We all know quality components come at a price, but do they have to? I want to know what cost-effective loads everyone has come up with! Not range plinking, but true hunting loads that are proven effective and can help others save a buck in the days of $62/lb h110 and impossible to find A frames.

No need to shoot a bullet harder than is necessary, shoot them as soft as you can & still maintain accuracy, especially now that most are powder coating. You can drive a soft bullet pretty fast if it's coated. Finding the right speed for game takes some experience & testing with maybe water jugs filled with sawdust & water or an other like medium. Nothing beats testing on game. A big cast bullet will give a lot of penetration if you use a powder coated 8-12 BHN bullet up to 1200 fps. If you go beyond that you "might" need to harden your alloy a bit. I've taken elk, moose, bears & African plains game with cast bullets that were 14 BHN with complete penetration with high shoulder shots. A couple were taken with HP's & 14 BHN with complete penetration on high shoulder shots, Kudu & Nyala. Velocities were 1300 fps+. A bullet is cheap compared to the cost of a hunt, if you don't have complete trust in your bullet then use a different bullet or go with a premium jacketed.
