Barnes Bullets and compressed loads

For starters, I am new to handgun hunting. I have a Ruger Blackhawk in .357 mag. My starting point for a bullet is the Barnes 140 grain XPB (by the way, I am hunting whitetail in Arkansas and my property is very brushy and my longest shot is 40 yards). I have always been impressed with the enteral damage a Barnes bullet does with my long guns. Does anyone have experience hunting with Barnes bullets in handguns? If so, how did they perform for you?

Secondly, my Barnes reloading manual lists Enforcer as a possible powder. However, it’s marked as a compressed load. I’ve never messed with a compressed load. The idea of that much powder makes me a bit nervous? Does anyone have any advice for loading compressed loads?

You help compressed loada by taking time to use a long funnel to load the casses as well as some tapping of the case lightly to help compress the load and get the powder level down. Then seat and crimp in the same operation. Make aure all your cases are trimmed to the same length.
