.309 JDJ

I'm thinking of a new barrel for the old Contender (like '79 or '80 ver) and am considering the .309 JDJ.

For you fellows who have them or those that decided against them, tell me what I don't know that I don't know with regard to reloading?

I've had a .309 JDJ since I met JD in the late 70s. Always excellent accuracy & power. Killed deer out to 350. Brass & forming was always a problem. Horn. brass did not work well for me. Rem. was better.

I started by using RCBS .308 dies to neck down the brass. Lost a fair amount due to neck collaspe. A friend gave me a Lee .308 die. Used it and almost never lost a case on initial forming.

JD developed it using AA2520. That's all I've ever used. Never any regrets. Killed several hundred deer and hundreds of groundhogs with it.
