45 LC with my Dad’s Vintage RCBS Dies
A few years ago my Dad gave me his old RCBS Dies for my birthday. He hasn’t owned a 45 in 30 years. The only one I have is my wife’s Taurus Judge. This morning I decided to have a little fun. I finally got my hands on some Unique(a favorite of my Dad’s and many of you!) So I looked up the differences between older RCBS dies and current(turns out the only real differences in set up are that they aren’t carbide and the expander die. RCBS even includes how to set up the older Expanders in their current instructions). I had a blast loading these this morning. There quite a few things I like more about the older dies. The lock rings are better and the bullet seater just felt smoother! Now off to the woods to see how they shoot!

Fun side note on this. When my Dad gave me the dies, I made a joke about their age. The shell holder had a Walmart sticker. “Dad, do you know the last time Walmart sold reloading supplies??” This evening, I found reloading supplies in one of our little backwoods Walmarts!!
