Another Milestone

Seems like most years have been "quit a year". Guess this one is not different. AS the photo shows deer # 84 this summer was deer # 2900 with a handgun at 197 yds.. Since I'm gettin' to old to chase them a lot I use mostly my "big boys". 62 of this year's deer were taken with my .375/.284 XP and .325 WSM XP (SSK made, of course). My #1 bullet in each are the excellent Nosler 200 & 260 gr. Accubonds. A few were taken with 260 gr. ETips & 180 gr. Nos. Ballistic Silver Tips. Three of these deer ran from 5 to 20 yards. Most exit holes were 1 1/2 to 2 1/2" and most internal damage was 2 1/2 to 3 1/2" on almost exclusively double should shots. Accubonds are GREAT.

Interestingly, I took 2 facing me with the .325 WSM at 180 & 210 yds. The ABs were recovered in the hip joints. Pic will be included.

My top 5 guns used on this unbelievable life long adventure are: #1-6.5/.284 XP, #2 6.5 JDJ Contender, #3 .309 JDJ Contender, #4-.375/.284 XP, #5 .325 WSM XP. Over 200 have been taken with each of these. Altogether I've used a great number of semiautos, revolvers, and Encores. My records started

200 gr. AB, expanded to 0.56", weight-160 gr.

July 1975 up to now. These records surprisingly survived my 98% house fire as well as all of the Sixgunners since inception. JD save 4 of my 65 guns.

All in all, this run has been quite a ride. It keeps me young in mind. I hope to continue it for a while.

Truly incredible. I wish I would have started keeping records when I was a kid. But I couldnโ€™t hold a candle to you sir.
