Thanksgiving backstraps
I almost didn't go but my wife insisted that a deer would be the only thing I could possibly bag this morning so off I went.
Around 7:30 this doe came close to 50 yards, feeding on pin oak "akerns". I watched her for about 10 minutes trying to get a head shot but she was as nervous as a tweaker hearing sirens close by so I decided on a neck shot instead. It was probably as good of a trigger pull as I can remember while hunting. The recoil surprised me as it should. Bang, flop. No tracking. Then off the the cleaning shed, quartered and into the ice chest. I'll work her up this afternoon.

We participate in a DMAP program and collect biological data on our kills including removing the jawbone to be aged. She's not the oldest I've killed but she's up there.
