2024 Africa Handgun hunt results
Just returned from almost 3-week hunt in South Africa. We hunted in Limpopo, the Karoo and the Eastern Cape. Both my hunting buddy and I were using the Taurus Raging Hunter 10.5" in .460 S&W Magnum caliber. Used mostly Barnes .275gr Expander bullets for most everything except the backup rounds (3-5 cylinders) for Cape Buffalo. The Raging hunter accounted for 2 Cape Buffalo, 2 Limpopo Bushbucks, 2 Caracals (African Lynx), 2 Wildebeest (Blue & Golden), a Zebra, Black Impala and a White Blesbok. We did fill in the blanks with a few rifle kills when we just couldn't get close enough for the handgun. Longest shot was a Golden Wildebeest at 142 yards with the other shots averaging 50-75 yards off of sticks.

Pat thank you for sharing, this is excellent info! Yes sir, I am heading to RSA in May for Kudu/Zebra/Gemsbuck/Waterbuck/etc.
I am having great success with my FA83 454 with the Swift AF 325s. I plan to run this as my main gun with an Encore 35 Whelen with 225 Barnes TSX as a secondary option. I have long considered a BFR or Encore in 460 S&W. Your feedback on that Barnes combination is very compelling! Thank you again for sharing your experience. I am hoping that my first Safari in May will be the first of many.
