Success In The Field

This has been the worst gun season Ive had since the mid 90’s. Rut hit here super ealry this year for some reason. Deer were in lock down mode opening weekend. Wasnt seeing anything. Then full moon had everything nocturnal. Gun season ended without firing a shot at a deer. I did 10 millerize a couple of hogs. But no deer. Holiday doe season started on the 18th. Came back to camp today and went out about 1500. Saw a song dog that I couldn’t get a shot at and a spike. Around 1720 4 does came in. 2 big and 2 small. I picked out one of the nice fat big one. 92 yards on range finder. Got the 6.5 Swede Encore up on the sticks, using my knee under the grip for a rock solid rest. Boom. She went down like a ton of bricks fell on her. The Georgia Arms 120gr BT did the trick like it always does. Im shooting a 15” barrel w/brake and a Simmons Whitetail Classic 3x w/ lit reticle. The scope Simmons said they never made. 😂
