Taming of the shrew

I haven't had much time to load ammo or shoot lately. The .450 is shooting good and I thought I would break it in on a hog hunt. The gun is violent with full power loads which generate 2300 fps. Much worse than the 14" 45-70 contender. I have a happy median now. The trick is utilizing powders that use a higher volume to achieve the same velocity as some faster burning powders. It allows the muzzle break to work like it is supposed to. It went from kicking much worse than a .454 revolver to about like a 44 magnum. It is still breaking 2000 fps with a 300 grain which is fine for what I am going to do with it. For anyone else fooling with one of these beasts H322 powder will settle it down a lot and still make plenty of power.

If I need it to go full throttle I just switch back to RE7.

I need to take a video of the hot 420 grain loads! It gives a new meaning to fireball! Actually you could shoot these latest loads. It will get your attention but it won't kill you. It is loud! Hearing protection is a must.
