Back in the Contender game
It has been a while since I sold my Contenders and Encores and concentrated on revolvers but it appears I have jumped back into the T/C Contender pistol game with both feet and forgot how deep the water was! I think I have most things covered from deer to Elephants with my recent acquisitions. I have (or will have as soon as they get here) a T/C contender frame with Pachmayer furniture and a12” Gary Reeder barrel in .257 Raptor which I am thinking would be primarily a deer and varmint round and for the big stuff a 14” T/C Custom Shop barrel in .375 JDJ. Both of them will have a 2x6 powered scope on them. I am looking at maybe also getting a .223 barrel from SSK with a 1:7 twist since they have a stainless 14” barrel with mounts in stock which makes it around $300 cheaper than a custom barrel. Should I grab the .223 or just use light bullets in the .257 Raptor? Any suggestions on what bullets work well in either and if I need anything else that you enablers would recommend?
Thanks! Ronnie
Ronnie, sounds like a nice selection!
I find myself in the same boat...
Decided to pick up a 15" encore in 308. Simple enough.
Still have the Encore, but somehow I ended up with 2 Contender frames, &4 barrels.
2 original old school 14" SSK barrels with full rib tsob mounts. 375 JDJ with the SSK brake & 2-6x Bushnell Elite, & 6.5 JDJ with no brake & Crimson Trace 2.5-8x Crimson Trace Brushline. 14" current manafacture SSK barrel with TSOP mount & SSK Hellfire brake that will be weaingr a 2x Burris about Tuesday. 10" factory barrel with 4x M8 Leupold.
Not sure how all that happened?
