Hard to open Contender
I went out a couple of weekends ago with a friend that had recently bought a used TC contender. The barrel release mechanism (i.e. trigger guard) was really, really stiff. He thought it just wasn't broken in yet.
But is this what is meant by a hard to open contender?

Opening and closing it will hone the lugs themselves and make it easier over time, the pivot point is the biggest part of the equation though to the difficulty. If it’s a front pivot it will never really get any better, but that’s on older frames. I’m shooting from memory here but I believe “easy open” frames started at the 195,000 serial number. TC factory did offer easy open conversions on older frames, so there could be older serial numbered frames that have the pivot over the trigger that were converted after the fact
