and it took a long time to find. In fact this one came to Texas via Wild West Guns in Alaska.

After all the horror stories I had heard about 454 recoil I had some reservations, but I have decided to try to get to Africa and take a Buffalo before I am too old to outrun the guide. Well, I am actually already too old to run, but with this maybe I won't have to.

I finally manned up and shot some Winchester 250 gr in it this morning. I was nervous, but it was a big nothing! I wore my weight lifting gloves and could have shot it for hours or until I was bankrupt (which would come much sooner)! I know the Buffalo Stompers will be much worse, but based on today I know I can handle it. (I hope...)

Don't know if I will make the HHI trip next year or not, but would like to go within two or three more years. Like I said, ain't gettin' any younger.

I will be looking to handload some milder practice loads, preferably hardcast, and would welcome any ideas. Data is out there, but dated and scarce it seems.
