Still thinking about a big bore pocket pistol.

I have been kicking around the idea of building a big bore gun to keep open sighted. Before I decided to scope the .475 I was thinking of having Jack Huntington cut the barrel back to the ejector rod housing and stickling a Ronnie wells dealer grip frame on it. Along with some good sights I think it would have made a great packing gun. I saw the BFR that Brett Pikula built for Laramie Miller AKA Sasquatch and fell in love with it. It is a 500 JRH complete with the #5 Sedgley cylinder pin latch and black nitride finish. I shot Trapr's SRH converted to 500 Linebaugh in Texas last year. Loved it. I think it has a 5" barrel. It was well balanced and although I couldn't see good enough to shoot it well past 25 yards with my new glasses fiasco I saw him shoot it at range and the gun will shoot. I bought one of the 4.2" .44 Redhawks and stuck some of Fermin's sights on it. It is super accurate. Truthfully with the 330 grain Garrets, 340 grain Buffalo bore or my own top end 300 grain WFN loads it would handle anything I need from a pocket pistol. I know the Garrett loads have stopped charging brown bears so there is that. I have the 4 5/8" .45 Colt/ .460 Rowland. It shoots the 360 grain Oregon Trail bullets 1250 fps from its 4 5/8" barrel and is insanely accurate. If I have one built, although I think I need a .500 of some sort the .475 Makes a lot of sense. I already have thousands of bullets and tons of brass for the .475 and .480. There is nothing I would do with a 500 that I wouldn't do with a .475. Using the 385 grain Montana Bullet Works NOE bullet the .475 shoots flatter. Do I need another gun? No but when has need ever driven handgun hunters?

Here is the Laramie Miller BFR in 500 JRH. He has killed bear and elk with it. Yes it shows some wear but he uses it.

That has been a dream gun of mine for roughly 10 years. 45 Colt is my favorite caliber, and what's not to love about a big bore snubbie!?
