Use what you have

Many years ago I started hunting with the guns I had, they were a Colt Commander and a Browning HiPower. They were accurate enough and powerful enough for what I needed, the Browning was for Javelina, predators, and small game. The Colt was for deer and feral hogs, since I was a bow hunter as well, getting inside 50 yards was not an issue. Factory Federal 230gr. HyrdaShok was great for deer and pigs, and reloaded Hornady 115gr JHP was good from the HiPower. Much later I picked up an early Pasadena made sr# AO 00264, AutoMag in 44amp, other than being a semiauto it didn’t do anything a regular 44mag revolver would do. It was extremely accurate and despite rumors of lack of functionality, mine ran once I got advice from Lee Jurras on how to load for it. You may feel like you don’t have a “traditional” hunting gun, but if you have an accurate gun, just use what you have and enjoy The experience.

A man after my own heart. I tell people that all of the time. That is how I started. Also glad to see another auto hunter. I use a lot of other handguns as well but have somewhere around 10 autos set up to hunt. Going to try out some new loads In a 10mm today.
