Reviving an old 45 Super project.

Dan Wesson Pointman 45 Super Conversion

ree

I started this project a couple of years ago when I bought this DW Pointman 45 to celebrate a life changing event, and had every intention to take it hunting as soon as I could. I began setting this gun to run 45 Super loads with basic spring swaps and a Wilson Combat compensator. I was testing out recoil systems from .460Rowland.com, while I set up a DW Specialists with recoil systems from DPM. I also worked with a couple spring manufacturers to test some of my own ideas. Things were going well, and I was collecting data, and recording videos, then the inevitable happened, something else shinny caught my attention and this project got placed in the back of the safe.

Now is a good time to get this going again, while my Super Redhawk project is beginning to wind down. I’m meeting with the president of Ruger at the end of the month to hopefully set the future of that project. More on that later.

The goal now is to conclude this DW 45 Super build and have it ready for hunting season this fall. More than enough time, but will most likely gain momentum after I return from my two week fishing vacation in Alaska next month.

The initial accuracy testing with 255gr hardcast loads was stellar. I can’t wait to finally wrap this up, and I’ll keep you updated with specs and tests as they transpire.

That would be great. Crossing my fingers then.
